title = {Optimization of Coagulation Process Using Alum and Ferric Chloride for Surface Water Treatment},
abstract ={Background: Water scarcity and increasing demand for various applications has led to more attention to the treatment and using potential resources. Surface water is one of water resources in the societies. In the present study, the performance of two coagulants, Alum and Ferric chloride, was considered to determine turbidity, color, COD, and microbial reduction in the surface waters in Tehran. Methods: Sampling was carried out from two surface waters named Sorkhehesar and Salehabad, during summer, fall, and winter. After optimization of coagulant dosage and pH, jar test experiments were conducted, and turbidity, COD, color, and microbial changes were considered. Results: Turbidity range in Sorkhehesar and Salehabad was between 91 and 500 NTU, and 35 to 400 NTU, respectively. Optimized dose of alum for summer, fall, and winter was 45, 100, and 35 mg/L, respectively, while in case of ferric chloride the optimized dose for three studied seasons was 5, 70, and 10 mg/L. Optimized dose of alum and ferric chloride in Salehabad, was determined as 28, 115, 2 and 30, 65, and 5 mg/L. Turbidity removal efficiency using both coagulants was higher than 95 percent, and color was totally removed in all experimented conditions. Conclusion: From the stand point of turbidity, color, and COD removal both alum and ferric chloride showed the same results, however, ferric chloride dose was lower than alum. In case of turbidity removal alum showed higher removal efficiency, while for COD reduction upon the conditions, e.g. seasonal variation, alum and ferric chloride performance was not the same and was varied accordingly.},

abstract ={In this study, the efficiency of phytoremediation on soils contaminated by Phenanthrene and Pyrene as well as the impact of bioaugmentation and nonionic surfactant Tween80 on its performance was evaluated by sorghum and Onobrychis sativa. Soils collected from the pastures of Kohkiluyeh and Boyerahmad province in Iran, with concentrations of 100 and 300 mg per kg of Phenanthrene and Pyrene, which were separately and combined (9 levels) contaminated, and 1.5 kg of soil was poured in each pot in different conditions of natural, bioaugmented and surfactant separately and combined (12 cases), were a total of 108 cases, with three replications (324 pot) for 120 days were considered in a similar condition to the field. At last, the concentration of Phenanthrene and Pyrene of soil samples was measured by HPLC to determine the amount and rate of removal. Also, microbial population of soil and Rhizosphere was counted. The results showed that both plants significantly improved the removal of Phenanthrene and Pyrene from soil. Bioaugmentation and nonionic surfactant Tween80 increased the removal efficiency. In the composition of plants, bioaugmentation and the surfactant showed significant increase, so as removal of 99.4% and 98% for Onobrychis sativa, and 96.5% and 99% with sorghum were achieved for the Phenanthrene and Pyrene, respectively. The study showed that both sorghum and Onobrychis sativa had a good performance in phytoremediation of contaminated soils by Phenanthrene and Pyrene, and addition of bioaugmentation and surfactants improved the removal of Phenanthrene and Pyrene to nearly complete.},

title = {Survey Removal Efficiency of Cadmium from Aqueous Solutions Using Commercial Aluminum nano oxide: Kinetic Study of the Equilibrium},
abstract ={Background: Human activities often diffuse heavy metal to the environment, which bring hazards up for human health when the concentration of these metals reaches high levels. The purpose of this study is evaluation effect of aluminum oxide Nano particles on cadmium removal from aquatic environment. Methods: This is a fundamental applied study which has been performed in order to investigation cadmium removal by using gamma aluminum nano oxide commercially prepared. In present study effects of pH, nano aluminum oxide concentration, initial concentration of cadmium, and contact time on kinetics and adsorption isotherm of cadmium by gamma Nano aluminum oxide were studied. Results: The results of experiments showed that cadmium ion had maximum adsorption over nano aluminum oxide on pH=3. Also by increasing adsorbent dose, adsorption efficiency was increased as by addition nano aluminum oxide from 0.5 g up to 4 g, the adsorption efficiency reached to 33%. By increasing cadmium initial concentration from 5 to 10 mg, removal efficiency was decreased from 29% to 25%. However the best time for adsorption was obtained at 60 minutes and the remaining time had no more effect on the removal efficiency. Data related to isotherm test for nano aluminum oxide has more conformity with Freundlich isotherm model (R2=0.9998). The results of cadmium adsorption kinetic showed that nano aluminum oxide has followed second order kinetic model (R2=0.9879). Conclusion: Nano Gamma-aluminum oxide adsorbent can introduce as an adsorbent for removal of cadmium from aquatic environment.},

title = {Evaluation of the Removal of 2،4 Dichlorophenol by Chitosan from Aqueous Solutions},
abstract ={Background: 2،4 dichlorophenol (DCP), one of the most chlorophenol compounds family with highly toxic effect, exists in agricultural areas, chlorinated waters, discharging wastewater of pulp industries and paper factories. Chlorophenols can cause damages to the kidneys, liver, pancreas and weaken the central nervous system (CNS). In the current study we would evaluate the adsorption of DCP by chitosan in aqueous environments. Materials and Methods: In this study we evaluated the effect of operational parameters such as time (15-90min), pH values (3-9), initial concentration of DCP(15-100mg/l)and the dose of chitosan (0.1-0.9g) in a batch reactor. A spectrophotometer at wavelength of 280nm was used to measure the concentration of DCP. Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models and Pseudo-first order kinetic models and Pseudo-second-order kinetic was drawn by using of the results obtained in the absorption process. Results: Equilibrium time in the adsorbtion process was estimated to be 75 minutes (DCP Concentration- 15mg/l, Chitosan Concentration – 0.5g and pH- 6.5) with 76% removal efficiency. PH=3 was calculated as the optimal PH in absorption process (DCP Concentration- 15mg/l, Chitosan Concentration- 0.5g and Time Equilibrium-75 min) with efficiency 79% and the value of efficiency decreased by increasing PH. In 15 mg/l concentration of DCP maximum adsorption with an efficiency of 79% was observed. (Chitosan Concentration – 0.5g, Time Equilibrium -75 min and pH-3) and the maximum 87% adsorption efficiency of DCP was observed at the 0.08mg/l absorbent dose of chitosan. (DCP Concentration - 15mg/l, time equilibrium-75 min and pH=3). Adsorption process follows of Freundlich isotherm with correlation coefficient of 0.9599 and the pseudo second order kinetic model with correlation coefficient of 0.9649. Conclusion: According to results of the study, chitosan can be used to remove of DCP from industrial wastewater due to of its perfect characteristics such as biodegradability, resurgent ability, low cost and adsorption acceptable efficiency.},

title = {Evaluation of Diazinon Adsorption from Water Solutions Using Magnetic Carbon Nano-Tubes with Fe3O4},
abstract ={Background and objective: Insecticides are one of the most important pollutants in water. Diazinon is one of the phosphorus pesticides that can be found in aquatic ecosystems in Iran. The toxic effect of diazinon is inhibition of the enzyme acetyl cholinesterase (Ache). In this study, MWCNT/ Fe3O4 efficiency was investigated. Materials and Methods: In this study, co-precipitation method was used for the Fe3O4 synthesis on multiwall carbon nanotube. The pH, contact time, adsorbent dose, pollutant concentrations and temperature parameters were investigated. Diazinon was measured by Gas chromatography method. Results: The results showed that the optimum conditions for diazinon removal were pH 6, contact time of 15 minutes, and adsorption dose of 0.6 g/l. So, the absorption efficiency increases with increasing of temperature and decresing of pollutant concentration. The diazinon adsorption corresponded with Freundlich isotherm (R2> 0.99) more than Langmuir isotherm model (R2> 0.90). Conclusion: The results show that the magnetic carbon nanotubes with Fe3O4 can be suitable adsorbent for diazinon removal from aquatic environment. },
